Choosing Faith

“Im sorry it’s a “No” for me.” “You’re not invited.” ” We regret” “It’s not the right time”….All of us in one fashion or another have been told no • especially if you’re a writer or artist. I am learning that indeed it is far more likely for every 100 nos you get one yes. But my…what a difference that one yes makes. That one encouragement no matter how small. It helps keep going, keeping the faith.

Those small yeses propel us forward to hope against all rhythm of reason. Yes…I know it should be rhyme. However, rhythm in my beautiful- but fast thinking mind seems fitting. There starts to be a rhythm of reasoning as a pattern starts to emerge whenever there’s a lot of nos or even yes that appears. One if we listen too hard, the track gets stuck like on the record player when it scratches on a worn record. An expectation whether positive or not emerges.

Here’s the thing though it still takes faith to walk through regardless of a no or even a yes. Yes…I’ll submit paperwork to buy a home. Breath deep for a yes to submitting to a gallery. Yes, to the (farmer) markets in lieu of box stores for food (ps- I have no qualm with box stores). No, I will not take trip that would set back not only myself but also others- not honoring a scheduled already set. The piles of laundry and stack of dishes are nos when I’m “at work” though a mere 4-7 ft away from the sink and washer respectability. Sleep is what is needed instead of evening meetups even it starts at 7.

Faith is far more than intentional belief, it is also an action.

Faith is often a million littles steps into practices. Living life while believing for something to come to fruition. It’s also pushing down fear allowing faith to rise up. Faith and fear can only be fed by attention, it is a choice of which one you feed and how much.

Faith and fear both demand you believe in what you can not see. You choose. • Bob Proctor

Full disclosure I have no clue who Bob proctor is though I feel as if I should. Never•the•less the quote gives me thought to consider. Whether or not it is agreed with, there is merit to the claim. What are you choosing today? Faith despite it all? Or fear? One pulls up and the other pulls down. Both• are still risks to take.
